Your golf cart floor mats operate in a high-impact environment—wet grass, mud, fertilizers, humidity, UV exposure, and routine foot traffic. Our Rubber Xtreme Mats are engineered from a durable rubber–latex blend designed to perform under demanding, real-world conditions. With a simple maintenance framework, you can keep your mats clean, vibrant, and performing reliably for years.
Why Gentle Care Matters
Rubber contains natural oils that preserve flexibility, prevent cracking, and maintain that deep black finish. Harsh cleaners strip these oils and accelerate aging. Protecting those oils is the key to long-term performance.
Step 1: Remove Mats Before Washing the Golf Cart
Always lift the mats out of the cart before spraying or washing the interior. Water trapped underneath creates stagnant areas that encourage mold, mildew, and algae growth.
Step 2: Use Mild, Non-Detergent Soap
A gentle cleaning mix—warm water plus mild dish soap without citrus solvents—keeps the rubber healthy. Avoid bleach, degreasers, ammonia, petroleum-based products, or harsh detergents, as they break down the rubber-latex structure.
Scrub lightly with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, and ensure no soap residue remains.
Step 3: Dry Completely—Top and Bottom
Rubber doesn’t absorb water, but the flooring underneath does hold moisture. After cleaning, let the mat and the cart floor dry fully. Towel-drying accelerates the process.
In high humidity, rainy seasons, or after exposure to heavy dew, lift the mats briefly to allow airflow under them. This reduces microbial growth drastically.
Step 4: Use a Rubber Conditioner 1–2 Times per Year
Rubber naturally loses oils through oxidation and UV exposure. A rubber conditioner or restorer replenishes oils, increases UV resistance, and keeps the mat flexible and vibrant.
Only apply conditioner to clean, fully dry mats.
Step 5: Long-Term Care Insights
A few operational best practices extend performance even further:
• Avoid pressure washers at close range.
• Don’t use tire shine on mats—it creates slip hazards and degrades the surface.
• Store mats flat if removed for long periods.
• Rinse after contact with fertilizers, grass clippings, or mud to prevent staining.
The Payoff
Consistent care optimizes traction, protects the rubber surface, extends lifespan, and keeps your mats looking new. A small, simple maintenance plan drives long-term value.
